Laureen DeBuono, J.D.
Ms. DeBuono has more than 25 years of executive management experience with public and private medical device companies. Formerly she was CEO and Board Member at Coapt, CFO of Thermage, EVP and CFO of more.com, and EVP, COO and CFO of ReSound Corporation. She was also EVP, General Counsel to Nellcor Puritan Bennett, and a member of the Board of Directors of Invivo and VISX. Ms. DeBuono received her B.A. from Duke University, an M.A. from Stanford University, and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
Jack Giroux
Mr. Giroux currently serves as president and CEO of Pivot Medical. Mr. Giroux was formerly Senior Vice President and President of ArthroCare Sports Medicine, Executive Vice President of commercial operations for Guava Technologies Inc. Mr. Giroux also held senior-level positions at ReSound Corp., Allergan Optical, and Ogilvy & Mather Advertising. Mr. Giroux holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Providence College.
Edward Knowlton, M.D.
Dr. Knowlton is the original founder of Solta Medical where he serves on the Board of Directors. His many accomplishments include the invention of the reverse thermal gradient concept as well as many other inventions that are the bases of RelēF Technology. Dr. Knowlton is also the founder of the Danville Ambulatory Surgery Center, an outpatient Plastic Surgery Center of Excellence that was established in 1983. Dr. Knowlton graduated from the Washington University Medical School in St. Louis in 1973, completed his surgical residency in 1978, and was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1981. He is the author of numerous patents in the medical device field and has written several scientific papers on Plastic Surgery including an innovative approach to breast reconstruction.
Diana Villegas, M.D., Ph.D., President and CEO
Dr. Villegas is the original founder of Alpha Orthopaedics. She practiced as an orthopaedic surgeon in public hospitals and private practice in the U.S. and South America and was founder and CEO of Clinica Guayacanes Hospital. Her extensive career in the medical device industry includes leading global scientific and clinical research and technology at Tyco Healthcare, St. Francis Medical Technologies, and Thermage. Dr. Villegas served on the Board of Directors for Sumatec, Flexco, and New Leaf. Dr. Villegas received her M.D. from the University of Caldas in Colombia and her Ph.D. from IASHS in San Francisco. Dr. Villegas has one issued patent, two published patent applications, and one provisional patent application, and has authored a number of scientific papers.
Terry Whipple, M.D.
Dr. Whipple is an internationally renowned and widely published orthopaedic surgeon in practice since 1979. He attended Princeton University where he majored in International Law and Organizations and graduated with honors. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Virginia. He did his residency in general surgery at Baylor University Medical Center, served in the U.S. Navy as a general medical officer, and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University. Dr. Whipple has been a member of the Board of Editors of six professional journals and has edited and authored four orthopaedic textbooks. He is a member of twenty-five professional organizations and holds thirteen patents on surgical instruments and implants.
