RelēF™ Technology Systems

AT3 System

The systems featuring RelēF™ Technology offer physicians a non-invasive tool to relieve pain from musculoskeletal conditions. A RelēF Technology system consists of a monopolar capacitive-coupled radiofrequency (mcRF) generator, handpiece and treatment electrode.

The device delivers thermal energy non-invasively to connective structures in a safe and effective manner. Handpiece and Electrode Using mcRF energy and reverse thermal gradient technology, the device simultaneously provides active cooling of the upper layers of tissue while delivering thermal energy at the target structure.

The systems by Alpha Orthopaedics feature RelēF Technology. RelēF Technology can be used when treating tendinopathies and ligamentopathies for the first time, reserving invasive alternatives for the treatment of recalcitrant cases. It can also be used in combination with any other treatment modalities. The ability to deliver high levels of radiofrequency (RF) energy to the target structure transcutaneously, without surgical incisions or the use of needles, represents several technical advantages and avoids the risks, expenses, and downtime associated with more invasive interventions.

Contraindications

The system is contraindicated for use in patients with either an implantable pacemaker, an Automatic Implantable Cardioverter/Defibrillator (AICD), or any other implantable electrical device as these devices may be adversely affected by radiofrequency (RF) field or current.
